BTTF was fun today! :) did a two-show day in honour of the film turning 40 this year ^_^ surprisingly they didn't mention it at the show (I didn't think it'd be a "special" show, but I thought they might at least mention it at the evening show if nothing else), but they DID do a music video to celebrate!!! my first reaction to it (when I saw it, muted, in a McDonald's this mor- well afternoon, it was like 12:30 pm) was "what the hell is Adam wearing"

(we ended up finding a quiet corner of the Strand and just stood on the street watching it LOL I normally wouldn't do that, but we HAD to see it and didn't have headphones or anything :'D)

(seriously though wtf I don't recognize that outfit??? Billie's outfit isn't one she wears in the show either - everyone else* is wearing their OAMOT outfits and obviously she's Clocktower Lady for that, I guess they wanted everyone to be colourful 80s youths for this though. but I'm pretty sure she's wearing Helen's jogger outfit here... but Adam's I don't recognize at all, so maybe it's new :O I guess we'll have to wait and see, been a while since I've seen him cover any tracks apart from Strickland. Aw, I liked the stripes better though :p)

omg it's great though!!! and Bryan's in it omg yay!! haha it threw me off so much though since that's his Craig wig?? XD It looks so weird having the Craig wig for Tower of Power haha. Maybe they wanted darker hair for more contrast tho, his actual ToP wig is... Not blonde but... Man I have no idea what colour you'd call it and I saw it this afternoon, lol. Well not dark, anyway. it makes sense, it's more visually interesting to have different/contrasting colours, but wow that threw me XD Especially since it looks so windswept for the actual music video part. Hee.

Anyone know where it's filmed? I don't recognize it but I'm curious.

Also damn I knew Gracie's current Laura wig was darker but I didn't realize it was THAT red :O Like here you can tell it's freaking firebrick red but it doesn't look like that on stage! I wonder why that is. also having Marty/Laura do the handclasp instead of Marty/Goldie made me jump XD was NOT expecting that haha. It's cute though, it's nice to see them actually interact for once.

soooooo 10 years ago (10 freaking years ago!!!) I wrote my first Adventure Time fanfic! well, 10 years, 1 month and 1 day, but who's counting? ^^;;; Anyway yeah, had to draw something for it. Wanted to for a while but yeesh it's been so hot lately... finally cooled down a bit today and I had five mins to doodle something for it. (actually this took longer than that, been working on it on and off all night)



:3 Yeah, KOO doesn't have his mustache yet in my fic. at the time the idea was to show that he's younger; these days we know that he hatched out of a chrysalis as an adult (what a wonderful show, that it enables us to type sentences such as these) so this isn't necessarily how I'd write it these days, but w/e I just stuck what I wrote 10 years ago. most of my pics from back then had KOO's shirt be more beaten up but w/e I started off with the black shirt (nicked from one of Steve Wolfhard's old pics) so I stuck with it. the blue jeans are a) an obscure Mark Twain reference and b) because it amused me.

I miss these dorks. :) Man, 10 years. It feels like a lifetime ago, haha. This was fun!

very specific music things that piss me off:

- the dance mix version of "That Don't Impress Me Much" isn't nearly as good as the other ver (country ver?), but that's the one that became a hit in the UK
- so, Rick Astley's "Together Forever". one of my favourite songs. so originally the music video used the SINGLE mix of the song ("Lover's Leap remix"), apparently. now why they did that, idk, but the fact is that they DID do that. and for years and years and years, the single mix is the one I've heard! on the radio, on music video channels, it's been THE SINGLE MIX. which is IMO far superior to the album mix. it has more warmth! it's more timeless.

but when they ~*remastered*~ the video a few years back, fsr they swapped the music out for the album mix. AND NOW THAT'S ALL YOU CAN FREAKING FIND
WHAT THE FUCK!!!! Like they really have replaced it EVERYWHERE, it used to be if it was on NOW 80s it'd be the single mix, but now it's the album mix. It pisses me off so much!

Like yeah, on the one hand, obviously I prefer the single mix, so it's annoying that it's not as easy to find it any more. Okay. But I also REALLY hate the revisionism going on here?? for like what 40 years the music video has had the single mix, you can't suddenly turn around and change that, and claim all you've done is "remaster" it. It's not remastering if you're actually ALTERING the music!!! Like, at least be honest about it, at least say "We remastered the video, oh and while we were in it we tampered with the music". It's just not the same thing and it annoys me so much :/

fannish merch talk that I've been meaning to post for a while:

- YESSSSSS finally pics of Jakks' Troy McClure figure! once again I was reminded that I really am in love with this char, because when I saw these I giggled like an idiot. Argh. He looks so happy though! ;w; their other Simpsons figures have looked a bit dead-eyed but they finally learned how to give 'em different expressions, yay! glad they got it right for Troy. eeee and he has the Juice Loosener, omg XD I love it. Yeah definitely gonna have to pick this one up.

- Falling behind with Doremi stuff again X_X Hopefully will be able to catch back up next payday. (oh wait, BTTF cast change is coming up... sdfghjk!!!)
anyway.. cute new sailor dress collab! I love sailor suits. I'm thrilled that Poppu-chan was included, but that's such an odd pose... also they keep putting her face a bit too low down her face :/ BUT she's still adorable. And in all fairness, something about the collabs with show-style art (as opposed to GraffArt style) DO tend to look very slightly off model. Dunno what it is, there's just something about them that's not *quite* right.... Poppu tends to get hit by it the hardest, I've noticed, but to be fair a) she's my fave so of course I'll be extra-critical and b) it's always 50/50 if she gets included at all, so yeah I can understand why they'd be more likely to get her off-model, it makes sense...

Hana-chan looks so cuuuuute here too, ngl I'm tempted to get her standee too.

AND MERCH OF THEIR HAMSTER FORMS OMG YES but no Ham Ham Poppu? D: I was so excited when I first saw these, only to be disappointed as soon as I realized that... it's so stupid to me that they consistently refuse to include Poppu in the animal funtimes -_- I know it's ~*non-canon*~, but come the FUCK on, it's not like it'd be especially difficult to design a hamster form for her. Christ. I mean, it's not like she ever wore a sailor dress in the show, either.

but on the other hand HOLY SHIT A STANDEE OF KITTY LALA
I mean a Lala standee full stop is nice, but OFFICIAL MERCH OF HER CAT FORM HOLY FUCK I think the only other merch I've seen of kittyLala is a couple of trading cards
NEED IT!!! aaaaa I wish they'd included Hehe too, but lol we're never getting Hehe merch. (I'd kill to get my hands on those unproduced prototypes they showed at Toy Fair...) Or Baba? Cat!Baba merch would be nice too. Or just Baba merch at all, girl needs more love.

...but also, why hamsters alongside the sailor theme? ^^; How random. Cute though.

- More Doremi: new Ichiban Kuji lottery! Eeeee merch of their puppy forms... no Poppu, of course... SIGH... luckily this isn't stuff I'd want anyway, it's all hair stuff, plus two compacts. Kinda random mix. I mean, I'm used to them thinking that adult magical girl fans only want makeup, lingerie and *maybe* a super expensive ultra high quality ugly figure or two (although to be fair they're not AS bad about this with Doremi as other series are, but still) but it's just odd to me that it's like "there's two hair clips, two compact mirrors, and two hairstyles. you want a compact with doggy Doremi? Fuck you, one character per item" like I'd get it if they made a compact for EACH char, for example? idk just something about the way they did it feels weird to me
it is nice to see them FINALLY doing something with the cute animal transformations though, it's always been weird to me that they have no merch. They're so obviously marketable, but they never went for it?? Major missed opportunity IMO. Anyway, nothing there that I want, but it's nice to see the puppy forms in merch, anyway.

- they've FINALLY released the merch for the Summer Party event! ooooh I want this keyring. I absolutely LOVE this art. Did I already fangirl about it, I don't remember? It's so gorgeous - I love the alternate hairdos! FINALLY an alternate hairdo for Momo-chan! What drives me nuts about the light novel art is that Momo looks EXACTLY THE SAME. For some reason they're ok with Doremi having either her hair down, or her familiar odango but shorter, they don't mind Onpu having longer hair... But Momo still has the same 'do she had as a little girl. It's just so jarring since it's such a *specific* hairdo, y'know? I get that they want to keep the chars recognizable, but... *shakes head* This shows that you CAN switch up her hair without making her unrecognizable. C'mon, guys.

also holy crap Onpu without her music note sidetail :O genuinely shocked at that, wowow. also Doremi without her odango I guess, but they've done that before for the light novels, tho I think this is the first merch where she has a new 'do. but yeah wow they look so lovely, I adore this art man.... of course I wish Poppu-chan was there -_- In all fairness I guess this is to promote the live event, and Sawa Ishige is being promoted as a "special guest" not one of the main guests. so I guess it makes sense why they left her out. but still x) woulda been fun to see what they did with HER hair.

not merch, still fannish stuff: so yesterday (29th June) was, as I saw someone put it, "a birthday party at the Boulevard". Sunset Blvd, that is ^^ Tom, Nicole AND Abby's birthday, man what are the odds of three ppl in one company having the same bday? I saw a clip of them all wishing each other "happy birthday" after the bows, aww. Cute!

This is still so great. God. It's funny cuz in hindsight, this introduced the idea of including the other cast members in The Walk... I wonder if they already knew by this point that's how they were gonna do it for Broadway? Hmm. But it works way better here than it did on Broadway, IMO... in part because Nicole just pops up for the one bit, and David/Grace only walk with him for a small bit. plus just... context... this is for the Oliviers so it feels *right* to give the other stars their due, too. (I'd have liked to see the ensemble get in too... It would've been cool if they were the ppl outside at the start, but that probably wouldn't have been feasible) It's... hm... it's kinda like how you can be a bit sillier in TV show/live performances than in the show itself... like how at West End Live this year.. hang on lemme get the link... here, that Les Mis joke from Fagin. like that'd be terrible in the show itself, oh my god. but in the context of West End Live, it works, it's funny.

heh now I'm thinking about that one Only Fools and Horses sketch (what was it for, Comic Relief? something like that) where they referenced Goodnight Sweetheart, and in the documentary they did David Jason was like (paraphrasing) "that wouldn't work if we did it in the ACTUAL show, but you can play with it a little more for this charity stuff" Okay I can't remember the phrasing, but that was the gist of it. you can bend it a little more when it's not in continuity. Yeah. I was talking about Sunset, sorry.

what made the ensemble popping up for the Walk on Broadway so jarring to me was how they just pop up out of nowhere lmao
It was fun watching it from outside though. I loved that. It's funny, but it "worked" more to me seeing it like that, than seeing the finished thing in the theatre itself, I think! I guess partly cause it's fun, the novelty, etc. I dunno. It's still brilliant, either way.

Semi-related, apparently crowds are getting fucking bonkers outside the Palladium these days, since Jamie Lloyd's Evita's doing "Don't Cry For Me, Argentina" on the freaking balcony. Free show! It's kinda getting out of hand lol. We didn't have this with Sunset! Sunset's London run, I mean. I think we got lucky with that though... people didn't *expect* it, the randos didn't really find out about it by and large... it's gotten too big now. These things happen, I guess.

I really want to see Oliver again. Also Hercules. Well I haven't seen that yet, but I want to. worried about it... I hope it's good. my hopes are high, so... yeah...
man I really do NEED to get back to Oliver! tho. I neeeed to see Simon!Fagin live... it's funny watching these clips and being like "Oh man I can totally hear Mr. Corneille in this" I can't freakin' believe I didn't know he was in TAWOG until I read it in the programmes, haha. My mind was totally blown XD but I can hear it omg

it's Leroy day! featuring most of my plushies, I realized afterwards that I totally forgot one of them >_< Gah. He was like RIGHT next to two of the others too, I dunno how I managed that. this is missing a lot of my misc Leroy stuff like Primark xmas ornaments, keyrings, etc though, just grabbed whatever was to hand, which was mostly plushies this time round!

god I love that ornament of him and Stitch in the sweater, it's great. wish it wasn't freaking glittery >__< But it was too funny to pass up. their expressions! the little mittens! hee hee hee

I just noticed that in last year's post I was talking about that pin set. Heh. I didn't include it in the Stitch/Angel pics since it was kind of annoying to fit into pics btw, and man I could not be doing with taking it out of the packaging that day.

The new Pokemon are so weird and confusing o.o I fear I've become a Geewunner. Well, I don't actually prefer Gen 1 specifically, but everything past SwSh... including half of SwSh... that's where I dropped off, so many of these new mons are just weird to me...

it's 627 Day! It's hard to do anything interesting for today since I still only have these two things ^^;; I'll admit, this pic's not my strongest effort. But 627 is great anyway, I love how absurd and ~extra~ he is, how you can tell the writers were having an absolute blast writing his ep. Stitch has an extra pair of arms? Well 627 has TWO extra pairs! AND AN EXTRA HEAD!!! hahahaha. 627 definitely needs more love. As much as I like Leroy, I do find it a shame that he essentially "replaced" 627, especially since 627 has a more unique design and is a bit more interesting in some ways. (On the other hand, Leroy's personality etc is a bit more flexible, perhaps... 627 is a character designed to be a one-and-done.) Well, I like them both, I'd just like to see some more 627 merch too.

(My two main "types" for characters seem to be "adorable cinnamon roll that has never done anything wrong, optimally shy and easily startled" and "narcissistic oblivious weirdo". I wonder what that says about me.)
